Municipal government is a dynamic level of government that touches almost every aspect of our day-to-day lives. Turn on the shower, drive down the street, play hockey at the local rink, or put your bag of recyclables on the sidewalk for pickup – all involve your local government in some way. Ensuring Alberta has strong, sustainable and well-managed municipal governments, managed by trained, qualified staff, is a goal of the Municipal Internship Program.

The Municipal Internship Program is coordinated by Alberta Municipal Affairs, in partnership with Alberta municipalities and municipal organizations. The program offers recent graduates the opportunity to gain first-hand, real-life experience as a first step towards a career in municipal administration. Being an intern in the program helps you develop professional skills and networks while learning about municipal government.
