Important Dates for Hosts
The following are important dates for those applying to host an intern for the 2019 Municipal Internship Program. All participants are expected to follow this timeline.
|July 2018||All eligible municipalities and planning service agencies are invited to submit an application to host an intern.|
|September 1, 2018||Grant applications to host an intern are due.|
|October 2018||Alberta Municipal Affairs reviews all applications received for the 2019 Program.|
|November/December 2018||Hosts are selected and notified.|
|January 31, 2019||
Interested intern candidates are required to have their application package submitted to Alberta Municipal Affairs by 12:00 PM (MST)(noon).
|February 2019||Alberta Municipal Affairs reviews all applications, produces a shortlist of candidates and provides the shortlisted applications to the hosts.|
|February - March 2019||Hosts review the qualifications of candidates and contact those they are interested in, to set up interviews. Salary details and start dates are to be negotiated by the host and intern.|
|March 31, 2019||Hosts are requested to have their intern selected by this date.|
|April 1, 2019||Hosts submit their completed customized Workplan.|
|Early April 2019||Host supervisors attend a one-day Supervisor Orientation session hosted by Alberta Municipal Affairs.|
|April/May 2019||Internship placements begin. Each host and their intern will mutually determine the exact start date. Internships cannot begin prior to April 15, 2019.|
|Late May 2019||Interns attend a three-day Intern Orientation session hosted by Alberta Municipal Affairs in Edmonton.|
