Energy Efficiency and the Alberta Building Code

Protecting our environment is an important priority. When consulted to help develop the province’s 2008 Climate Change Strategy, Albertans said they want to take action against climate change and ensure the province is doing its part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions entering our atmosphere.

Based on this feedback, the Government of Alberta would like to introduce new energy efficiency requirements for homes and other buildings in Alberta. We prepared a series of questions for our stakeholders on this subject, and their feedback will be instrumental in helping us develop the right strategy to make homes in our province greener. This consultation was conducted between October 12 and November 30, 2009.
